Ever since I can
remember, I have loved beautiful art. I remember standing before a
portrait by Renoir at the Detroit Institute of Arts and being moved
to tears. Later that day, I came upon The Nut Gatherers by
Adolphe-William Bouguereau. Although it was displayed in a less than
prominent position as if to say, “I'm only here for the history lesson,”
I knew I was standing before the standard of excellence I would humbly
pursue for the rest of my life.
